Job Description

Assists and Supports the Regional Director with operational functions throughout the assigned regional schools. This includes special projects, onboarding new staff, additional student counseling support, event planning and outcome monitoring. Capable of executing all components of the Ayers Scholars Way/Come Home TN in any partner high school if needed or indicated. Capable of applying strategic problem solving as it relates to mentoring ASP staff as they counsel students to and through completion of their postsecondary education. 

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative and counseling support as directed across the region to ensure that the Ayers Scholars Way is executed with excellence and program goals/success measures are met. This includes (but is not limited to) assisting with:
    • Student meetings
    • 8th grade meetings and engagement activitie
    • FAFSA Completion
    • TN Promise Completion
    • Tracking Community Service eligibility requirements
    • College application completion
  • Support retention strategies and Come Home TN initiatives across the region as directed to include (but is not limited to):
    • Monitoring compliance with eligibility criteria
    • Maintaining communication with students throughout their postsecondary completion to escalate barriers and facilitate a career at home if desired.
  • Assist with efficient regional coordination of  regional meetings, and events group (including but not limited to student college visits, signing events, or orientation/registration sessions, staff regional meetings and trainings) to facilitate cost efficiencies and avoid duplication of efforts.
  • Partner with Regional Director to monitor ongoing data entry and analytics related post secondary progress and success (e.g., Tennessee Promise meetings, financial aid awarded, college enrollment status, college enrollment documentation, etc). Escalates omissions, deficiencies and opportunities in a timely manner.
  • Serves as a regional resource for ongoing competency development of ASP staff through orientation/onboarding activities, in servicing and mentoring.
  • Provides variety of services needed to provide leadership for project management and change (high utility team member)
  • Fosters collegial relationships between team members across regions and departments

Reporting:

  • This position reports to the Regional Director. 

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree strongly preferred; Bachelor’s degree required
  • Strong proficiency and desire to build capabilities in others through training, mentoring and facilitation of conflict management strategies.
  • Must have high flexibility and capacity to travel throughout the region weekly. Comfortable with rapid change and ambiguity.
  • High ability to be a self started with excellent time management/organizational skills.
  • 3-5 years of school counseling and/or post secondary experience preferred
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of students, parents/guardians, colleagues and educational institutions 
  • Understanding of project and quality management
  • Proficient with database entry, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. Salesforce platform experience required

  • Sitting, standing, driving, lifting up to 15lbs, repetitive motion from computer use
  • Ability to walk 1-3 miles for campus tours and visits
  • Hearing/Speaking effectively as required for communication 
  • Travel across region required (up to 6 hours driving could be possible in a day)
